Description
American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring neuro and trauma care experience, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications, and a NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on the K7 floor of a hospital setting in Asheville, NC
- 44-bed unit serving neuro and trauma stepdown patient populations
- Patient ratio of 4:1 at grid, with stretch ratio of 5:1
- Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Equipment used includes IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts
- EMR: Cerner (experience required)
- Floating required to stepdown and med-surg units
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a PCU or related specialty
- Neuro and trauma care experience required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Procedures performed on this unit include neuro and spinal checks, C-collar placement, TLSO braces, chest tube management, PCA pump management, IV infusions, lumbar drain care, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions
- Unit staffing grid includes charge nurses, RNs, CNAs, and a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) on both day and night shifts
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Team-oriented, patient-focused candidates are the best fit for this unit
