Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical position requiring a WV or Compact license and at least 2 years of experience.

Details

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit (5S) of a teaching hospital environment
• Patient ratios of 1:5-7
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts, including weekdays and weekends
• 13-week contract length with possible extension
• Uses Cerner EMR system
• Unit cannot guarantee schedule requests but will try to accommodate travelers

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted for consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Minimum 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required
• Skills in gastrointestinal, respiratory, IV therapy, neurological, cardiac monitoring, and wound care preferred

Additional Information

• Provide medical surgical nursing care including management of feeding tubes, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, IV therapy, and wound care
• Facility maintains a strict attendance policy allowing only 2-3 call-offs per contract
• Non-billable Cerner training modules required prior to start date, averaging 8 hours to complete
• Orientation held every other Monday
• Candidates must have a permanent address more than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-100 miles may be considered case-by-case at the same rate
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
• Current Vandalia Health System employees (including CAMC Health Systems, Mon Health Systems, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for travel contracts within the health system
