Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in Rochester, NY, requiring an active NY RN license and Epic proficiency for a 13-week night shift contract.

Details

• Works in an adult Emergency Department within a 528-bed acute care Magnet-recognized teaching hospital certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics presenting with all emergency-type diagnoses, including CVA/stroke, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, TBI, cardiac dysrhythmias, gunshot wounds, and orthopedic trauma
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
• Dedicated pediatric ED, crisis intervention unit, and trauma suite on-site
• Schedule is 4x12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday, as needed
• Floating within skillset required
• EMR: Epic experience required
• Special equipment includes Bair Hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
• Scrub color: any combination of navy blue and white

Requirements

• Active NY single-state RN license required (NY is not a Compact state); pending licenses are not accepted
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 1 year of ED nursing experience required
• Proficiency in IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, and IV vasopressors
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management
• Cardiac monitoring experience including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with isolation precautions, triage, and pediatric spinal cord injury
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Valid NIHSS certification must be included for consideration
