Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical Surgical Neurology position requiring a SC or compact RN license and at least 1 year of experience, working nights on a 13-week assignment.

Details

Work in a 23-bed inpatient General Neurology, Medical Stroke, and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit serving adult and geriatric patients in a large academic medical center
Patient population includes diagnoses such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular diseases, seizures, strokes managed medically, and overflow neurosurgical and spine surgery patients
Patient ratio is 1:5
Unit supports the Comprehensive Spine Center and Comprehensive Epilepsy Center programs; nine rooms are equipped for continuous epilepsy monitoring
Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
4–5 weekend shifts required per 4-week period, plus holiday rotation
Floating to like units or sister facilities may be required
No on-call requirement
EMR: Epic (experience preferred)

Requirements

Active SC RN license or multi-state compact RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
Required certifications: BLS (AHA only)
Preferred certifications: ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) (AHA only)
Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Former permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized
Online modules must be completed prior to the start of the assignment
During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties; peak activity months are August and September
