Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical Surgical Neurology position requiring a SC or compact RN license and at least 1 year of experience, working nights on a 13-week assignment.
Details
- Work in a 23-bed inpatient General Neurology, Medical Stroke, and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit serving adult and geriatric patients in a large academic medical center
- Patient population includes diagnoses such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular diseases, seizures, strokes managed medically, and overflow neurosurgical and spine surgery patients
- Patient ratio is 1:5
- Unit supports the Comprehensive Spine Center and Comprehensive Epilepsy Center programs; nine rooms are equipped for continuous epilepsy monitoring
- Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- 4–5 weekend shifts required per 4-week period, plus holiday rotation
- Floating to like units or sister facilities may be required
- No on-call requirement
- EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
Requirements
- Active SC RN license or multi-state compact RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA only)
- Preferred certifications: ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) (AHA only)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
- Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized
- Online modules must be completed prior to the start of the assignment
- During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties; peak activity months are August and September
