Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a high-volume Level III trauma center, requiring a minimum of 3 years of large-volume ED experience and a comprehensive certification package including TNCC.
Details
- Work in a 34-bed Emergency Department at a 226-bed Level III non-profit community hospital seeing 200–250 ED patients per day — the busiest ED in the state
- Patient population spans neonate to geriatric, including pediatric medical and trauma, stroke (TNK administration), cardiac (cath lab), behavioral health, substance use disorder, and multi-system trauma
- Stabilization and transfer responsibilities for patients requiring neurosurgery, multi-system trauma care, and high-acuity pediatric services
- Patient ratios are 1:3–5 based on acuity; ED is organized into zones including a 13-bed fast track 'green zone'
- Required skills include barcode scanning medication administration, medication drip management, blood product administration, chest tube setup, arterial line setup, trauma and code assistance, splinting, BiPAP/ventilator management, and strong ESI knowledge
- Triage experience required; candidates must pass the hospital's Triage Test before being permitted to triage independently
- EMR: Epic (required)
- 12-hour mid shifts with shift times ranging from 10a–10p through 2p–2a
- Every other weekend rotation required; occasional back-to-back weekends possible
- No floating and no on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active WA state RN license or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience in a large-volume, high-acuity ED
- Epic EMR experience required
- Triage experience required
- Pediatric emergency medicine experience highly preferred
- Point of Care Lab experience a plus
- At least one professional reference from a supervisor or above (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or equivalent) required for consideration; a second reference will be needed prior to start
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Scrubs may be any color; no logos permitted
- Pediatric emergency medicine experience is highly preferred given the pediatric medical and trauma volume
