Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level II trauma center in Asheville, NC, requiring at least 1 year of ER experience and multiple certifications including ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS.
Details
- Large, high-volume Emergency Department with 101 beds in a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center
- Typical patient ratio is 4:1 for medical patients, with ratios up to 7:1 for behavioral health holds
- Techs are available for cardiac monitoring, internal processing, and triage; unit clerks are present on both day and night shifts
- Equipment includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors
- Documentation is completed in Cerner
- Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Every other weekend required; scheduling must meet department needs and block scheduling is not available
- No floating outside of the ED, but flexibility to float to all sections within the ED is required
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Required certifications prior to start: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI (or accepted equivalent such as SAMA, MAB, or ACPMA), and NIHSS
- ENPC required within 90 days of hire
- Minimum 2 years of total nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an ER setting
- Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ annual visits) strongly preferred
- Previous HCA experience preferred
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date

- Navy scrubs are required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
- Previous HCA employees should be aware that prior employment with HCA may affect eligibility
- The ED team is known for strong teamwork and a welcoming culture, serving a highly diverse, multilingual community

- Patient experience standards include AIDET communication, respectful behavior, updated patient boards, and keeping patients informed throughout their visit
