Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic medical center in Charleston, SC, with scrub experience strongly preferred.

Details

• Main OR within a 21-suite Level I Trauma Center, academic teaching hospital, and Magnet-designated facility covering all surgical specialties including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
• RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate surgical procedures
• Nursing team is composed of approximately 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists
• Shift: Mid shift, 3x12-hour shifts (10:30 AM – 11:00 PM)
• On-call required: up to 2 call shifts per month (7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM on Saturday or Sunday)
• Weekend requirement: up to one working weekend shift every 4 weeks
• Holiday coverage required for at least one holiday period: Christmas (Dec 24–26) or New Year's (Dec 31–Jan 1)
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units or sister facilities
• Charting system: Epic
• Scrubs are provided by the facility

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS
• Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
• Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience strongly preferred
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Scrub experience strongly preferred
• SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are accepted for this position depending on experience
• Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
• Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) are accepted on a case-by-case basis; non-local candidates are prioritized
• All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of consideration and are subject to facility approval
• Orientation modules are completed prior to the start date (approximately 4 hours)
• Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November, with peak activity in August and September), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams
