Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a Level II trauma center in Asheville, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year in an ED setting.
Details
- 101-bed Emergency Department within a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center
- Patient ratios are typically 4:1 for medical patients, up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
- Staffing support includes patient care techs (in cardiac monitoring unit and internal processing area), triage support, and unit clerks on days and nights
- Equipment includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors
- Documentation via Cerner
- Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Every other weekend required; scheduling must meet department needs and block scheduling is not available
- Floating is limited to within the ED only, but flexibility to work all sections of the ED is required
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an ED setting
- Required certifications (must be obtained prior to start): BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, and NIHSS
- ENPC required within 90 days of start
- Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ annual visits) strongly preferred
- Previous HCA experience preferred
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- Must demonstrate teamwork mentality and the ability to coach and give feedback in real time
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required if currently licensed in Florida or Missouri)

- Navy scrubs are required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
