Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Trauma Neuro ICU position on a night shift schedule, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU or critical care experience and an active IN or compact RN license.
Details
- Located on the 2 North floor of a hospital's Trauma Neuro ICU unit, a 17-bed critical care setting
- Night shift schedule: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM, 3x12-hour shifts per week
- Patient ratios range from 1:2 to 1:4 depending on acuity, with stepdown and bedhold patients included
- Night shift team typically consists of 1 charge RN, 6–7 RNs, 1–2 PCAs, and sitters as needed
- Procedures performed on the unit include TLC, intubation, CRRT, TTM, Stroke tPA, foley catheter, CPR, defibrillation/cardioversion, and TEE
- Equipment used includes ventilators, CRRT machines, cardiac monitors, and IV pumps
- EMR: Epic
- Weekend rotation required every third weekend
- No on-call requirements
- 12-week contract
Requirements
- Active IN or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Must pass an EKG competency exam for rhythm interpretation
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- US Social Security Number (SSN) required
- TNCC or TCAR certification preferred
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include critical care nursing for trauma and neurological patients, including managing ventilators, CRRT, and performing advanced procedures
- Scrub color requirement: Navy Blue
- EKG competency testing is required; candidates are allowed 2 attempts — if unsuccessful, reapplication to Franciscan is permitted after 30 days
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible to apply at a reduced bill rate
- The unit is recognized as a Champion for NDNQI measures and is known for exceptional teamwork and an inclusive work environment
