Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift travel contract at a short-term acute care hospital in Indiana, with AWHONN-guided patient ratios and MCH float requirements.
Details
- Labor & Delivery unit in a short-term acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes active labor, induction, scheduled and unscheduled C-sections, C-sections with salpingectomy, SROM, PPROM, hypertension, preeclampsia, antepartum, and triage patients
- Patient ratios follow AWHONN staffing guidelines: 1:1 for active labor, 1:2 for non-active labor, and up to 1:3 for triage or antepartum patients
- Equipment used includes CADD epidural pumps, Alaris IV pumps, Philips monitoring (wired and wireless), Periwatch, Hillrom labor beds, Draeger radiant warmers, birthing and peanut balls, vein light, and V-scan
- Charting is done in Cerner; experience is required
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (18:00–06:30)
- Float required within the MCH service line, including potential float to an affiliate hospital nearby
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted
- RN degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and FHM (AHA and RQI formats accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience required
- Cerner charting experience required
- 2 supervisor references required for consideration
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Indiana residents are considered local candidates and are not eligible for this position
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract
- Any permanent or PRN employee of IU Health must have a 12-month break in IU Health employment before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: 90 days for out-of-state residents and 180 days for in-state residents
- RTO of 5 days or fewer may be auto-approved
