Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level II trauma center in Asheville, NC, requiring at least 2 years of nursing experience including 1 year in an ER setting.
Details
- Large, high-volume Emergency Department with 101 beds at a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center
- Typical patient ratio of 4:1 for medical patients, up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
- Support staff includes techs (cardiac monitoring unit and internal processing area, triage) and unit clerks on both day and night shifts
- Equipment includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors
- Documentation via Cerner
- Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Every other weekend required; scheduling must meet department needs and block scheduling is not available
- No floating outside the ED, but must be open to floating to all sections within the ED
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required
- Required certifications prior to start: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI (or equivalent such as SAMA, MAB, or ACPMA), and NIHSS
- ENPC required within 90 days of start
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an ER setting
- Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ visits) strongly preferred
- Previous HCA experience preferred
- SSN (US only) and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required for candidates from Florida or Missouri)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
- Responsible for delivering patient experience standards including AIDET communication, respectful behavior, updating patient whiteboards, and keeping patients informed throughout their visit
- The department is recognized for its strong teamwork culture and serves a highly multicultural community with over 120 languages represented in the surrounding area
- The facility has received recognition including Healthgrades America's 50 Best Hospitals (2020–2023), Leapfrog 'A' Safety Grade, and Magnet® Designation
- Navy scrubs required
- Attendance policy will be provided on the first day of orientation
