Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position in Asheville, NC, requiring neuro and trauma care experience along with ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Details

  • Work on the K7 Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital, covering Trauma Care Stepdown and Pulmonary departments
  • 44-bed unit with a staffing grid of 2 Charge Nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC per shift
  • Patient ratio is 4:1 at grid, stretching to 5:1
  • Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Float to stepdown and med-surg units as needed
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Equipment includes IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts

Requirements

  • Active NC or Compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (AHA or ARC accepted; no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of assignment)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or related clinical experience
  • Neuro and trauma care experience required
  • Cerner experience strongly preferred given unit usage
  • US SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • One professional reference required

Additional Information

  • Perform neuro and spinal checks, C-collar placement, TLSO brace application, chest tube management, PCA pump management, IV infusions, lumbar drain care, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions
  • No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
  • Navy blue scrubs required
