Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring neuro and trauma care experience, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certification, working night shifts on a 13-week contract in Asheville, NC.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on floor K7 of a hospital's K Tower building
- 44-bed unit with a staff mix of charge nurses, RNs, CNAs, and a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) per shift
- Patient population includes neuro and trauma stepdown cases
- Patient ratio is 4:1 at grid, with potential stretch to 5:1
- Equipment used includes IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts
- EMR: Cerner
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to stepdown and med-surg units required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the start date)
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in PCU or a related specialty
- Neuro and trauma care experience required
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
Additional Information
- Procedures performed on the unit include neuro and spinal checks, C-collar placement, TLSO braces, chest tube management, PCA pump management, IV infusions, lumbar drain, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
