Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring neuro and trauma care experience, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certification, working night shifts on a 13-week contract in Asheville, NC.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on floor K7 of a hospital's K Tower building
• 44-bed unit with a staff mix of charge nurses, RNs, CNAs, and a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) per shift
• Patient population includes neuro and trauma stepdown cases
• Patient ratio is 4:1 at grid, with potential stretch to 5:1
• Equipment used includes IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts
• EMR: Cerner
• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to stepdown and med-surg units required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the start date)
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in PCU or a related specialty
• Neuro and trauma care experience required
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Procedures performed on the unit include neuro and spinal checks, C-collar placement, TLSO braces, chest tube management, PCA pump management, IV infusions, lumbar drain, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
