Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position at a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet Hospital, working night shifts with every-other-weekend requirements.
Details
- Med/Surg Float Pool position at a Level I Trauma Center, teaching facility, and Magnet Hospital with 820 staffed beds
- Floats between Med/Surg floors at the main hospital and Ashley River Tower
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- 36 hours per week
- Every-other-weekend requirement
- Holiday rotation required
- No on-call requirements
- Patient ratios may vary depending on the unit assigned
- Charting is done in Epic
Requirements
- Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must have proof of application and cannot begin until the license is active
- Current BLS certification required (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Driver's License and SSN required for consideration
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
- Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized, and local candidates are considered on a case-by-case basis
- Scrub requirement: solid royal blue or white top with royal blue bottoms
- Orientation modules are completed prior to the start date
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days or including holidays are subject to facility approval and may delay the process
- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed and requires manager approval based on unit needs
- During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
- A $20 one-time registration fee is required to obtain a parking hang tag for use in the designated parking garage
