Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Acute Care/Med-Surg night shift position in a rural, culturally rich community in Northwestern Arizona, requiring at least 2 years of acute or sub-acute nursing experience and an active AZ or Compact RN license.

- Acute Care Unit (ACU) / Med-Surg setting within a JCAHO-accredited regional health center
- Serves a 4,400 square mile referral area for the western Navajo and Hopi Reservations, with a 73-bed capacity
- Patient population spans all age groups, including individuals from Navajo, Hopi, and Southern Paiute tribal communities
- Night shift schedule: 18:30–07:00, three 12-hour shifts per week
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active AZ RN license or Compact RN license, currently in hand and unrestricted
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an acute or sub-acute nursing setting
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required
- Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) certification must be completed within 6 months of hire
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification must be completed within 6 months of hire
- SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Performs a variety of nursing care procedures requiring professional knowledge and the ability to work independently, guided by physician's orders, standards of care, and hospital policies
- Provides nursing support to patients of all ages and their families
- Multidisciplinary team includes surgeons, internal medicine, psychiatry, pediatrics, OB/GYN, ENT, orthopedics, urology, and a full dental staff
- Orientation runs on a two-week cycle
- COVID and flu vaccine exemptions may be accepted upon submission of a declination form
- Fingerprinting is required prior to start and is completed during the compliance process via mail
- This position is located in a very rural area; limited on-site housing may be available at $600/month (shared units, based on availability)
- No family members or pets are permitted in facility-provided housing
- A housing application must be submitted 2 weeks prior to the start date if housing is needed
