Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position in Asheville, NC, requiring neuro and trauma care experience, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) located on the K7 floor of a hospital trauma care stepdown unit
- 44-bed unit with a staffing grid of 2 charge nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC per shift
- Patient ratio is 4:1 at grid, with the possibility of stretching to 5:1
- Day shift schedule: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to stepdown and med-surg units required
- EMR: Cerner
- Equipment used includes IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts
- Procedures performed on the unit include neuro and spinal checks, C-collar placement, TLSO braces, chest tube management, PCA pump management, IV infusions, lumbar drain, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a PCU or related specialty
- Neuro and trauma care experience required
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration — Canadian SSNs are not accepted
- One professional reference required (two required if the candidate is from Florida or Missouri)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- Team-oriented, patient-focused candidates are the ideal personality fit for this unit
