Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Dept RN for a 13-week night shift travel contract in Hickory, NC, requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and active ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and NIHSS certifications.

Details

• Work setting is a 32-bed Emergency Department within a 355-bed acute care hospital
• Patient population spans all ages (birth to death), including stroke, STEMI, and trauma cases
• Patient ratios are 1:4 to 1:5
• Critical care equipment is used throughout the unit
• EMR is Cerner
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend
• Hours may be pushed back depending on census
• Floating may be required to areas within the nurse's competencies
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license in NC or a compact state currently in hand
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and NIHSS (AHA-issued certifications required)
• Strong critical thinking and patient/family communication skills
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
• Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates

Additional Information

• The ED treats all types of traumas despite not holding a formal trauma designation
• Experience with strokes, STEMIs, and trauma is preferred
• Facility is part of the Duke LifePoint Health system; candidates who have worked permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
• Candidates cannot be employed full-time elsewhere during the assignment
• Any color scrubs are acceptable; hoodies and inappropriate t-shirts are not permitted
• Orientation start dates are scheduled on fixed bi-weekly dates — candidates must be available to begin on one of the designated orientation dates
