Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a 13-week travel assignment at a Level II trauma center in Asheville, NC, requiring at least 1 year of ER experience and multiple certifications including ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS.

Details

  • 101-bed Emergency Care Center within a large, 815-bed hospital serving as the region's referral center for a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center
  • Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
  • Patient ratios are typically 4:1 for medical patients, and up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
  • Staffing support includes techs (cardiac monitoring unit and internal processing area, triage) and unit clerks on days and nights
  • Equipment includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors
  • Charting is done in Cerner
  • Every other weekend required; scheduling must meet department needs and block scheduling is not available
  • No floating outside of the ED; however, flexibility to float to all sections within the ED is required
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Required certifications (all must be in hand prior to start): BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, and NIHSS
  • ENPC required within 90 days of start
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in an ER setting
  • Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ annual visits) strongly preferred
  • Cerner EMR experience preferred
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to coach and give real-time feedback
  • US SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • One professional reference required (candidates from Florida or Missouri must provide two references)
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted

Additional Information

  • Previous HCA experience is preferred
  • Nurses are expected to follow AIDET communication standards, maintain respectful behavior, and keep patient boards and patients updated throughout their visit
  • The department is known for its strong teamwork and welcoming culture, proudly serving a diverse, multicultural community with over 120 languages represented in the surrounding area
  • The hospital holds Magnet® Designation, an 'A' Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, and has been named one of America's 50 Best Hospitals (Healthgrades, 2020–2023)
  • Navy scrubs are required
  • Attendance policy will be provided on the first day of orientation
  • Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date; AHA or ARC certifications are accepted
