Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU (PICU) travel assignment requiring a minimum of 2 years of PICU experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Pediatric ICU (PICU) and PCICU setting at a 300-bed trauma-designated, academic teaching hospital with a stroke center and chest pain center
• Unit census of 15–18 patients per day across 19–23 beds with a 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Patient population includes respiratory, congenital heart disease, hematology/oncology, post-operative, and trauma cases
• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Floating required between PICU/PCICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics across two campuses (Oak Lawn and Park Ridge)
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• EMR: Epic (experience noted)
• Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Med Sonic monitors

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required; NRP highly preferred
• Minimum 2 years of PICU RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• 1 professional reference required, dated within the last year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
• Candidate's middle name or initial required for consideration

• Unit culture is described as teamwork-oriented and friendly
• Departmental support includes CNAs, a receptionist, charge nurse, in-house phlebotomy, IV team, resource nurse, and tele techs; RT, hospitalists, and intensivists are available 24/7
• Orientation consists of a general nursing orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation in the PICU
• Navy scrubs required
• Free parking available on-site
• Holidays covered as needed by the unit
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position — prior travel experience is not required, but candidates should have recent clinical experience
• Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligible
