Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Pediatric ICU (PICU) position at a trauma-designated teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of PICU experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Pediatric ICU/PCICU setting at a 300-bed, trauma-designated teaching hospital with Stroke and Chest Pain Center designations
• Unit operates with 19–23 beds and an average daily census of 15–18 patients
• RN-to-patient ratio is 2:1
• Patient population includes respiratory, congenital heart disease, hematology/oncology, post-op, and trauma cases
• EMR is Epic; experience preferred
• Additional equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and MedSonic monitors
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Holidays covered as needed by unit
• Float requirement between PICU/PCICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics across two campuses (Oak Lawn and Park Ridge)
• No on-call or call-back requirements

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• NRP certification highly preferred
• Minimum 2 years of PICU RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• One professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year required for consideration
• Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
• Candidate's middle name or initial required for consideration

• Unit culture is described as teamwork-oriented and friendly
• Departmental support includes CNAs, a charge nurse, receptionist, in-house phlebotomy, IV team, and resource nurse; RT, hospitalist, and intensivist are available 24/7
• Orientation includes new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation in the PICU
• Navy scrubs required

• Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
