Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Emergency Department travel contract at a Level III trauma center in Farmington, NM, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and NM or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a 48-bed Emergency Department (with flex space) at a 198-bed Level III trauma center serving the Four Corners region of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah
- Patient population includes ESRD, cirrhosis, COPD, psychiatric, and substance abuse disorders, with common presentations including chest pain, abdominal pain, CHF, and sepsis
- Patient ratios are 4:1 in the Main ED and 6:1 in Fast Track
- Mid-shift schedule with rotation options including 10A–10P, 12P–12A, and 3P–3A (all 12-hour shifts)
- Minimum of two weekends required per schedule
- No call requirements
- No floating requirements
- EMR: Cerner
- Equipment includes Zoll Defibrillator, Level One Blood Transfuser, QinFlow Blood Warmer, Hospira Plum360, Freestyle and iStat POC, and Ultrasound Guided IV
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
- Experience with trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and moderate sedation required
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher required
- Completion of an area-specific competency exam and skills checklist required for consideration

Pros
Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.
Cons
It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
