Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position in Louisville, KY, requiring a KY or compact RN license and ACLS certification.

Details

  • Work in a Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) within a hospital setting, providing intermediate care for cardiac surgery patients from pre-op through discharge
  • The CVU consists of 16 beds and a sister CVI unit of 15 beds, with additional beds for patients requiring monitoring
  • Patient population includes pre/post-cardiac surgery patients as well as pre/post-cardiac intervention patients (PTCA, cardioversion, generator implants, TAVR) and patients with atypical chest pain requiring monitoring
  • Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
  • Weekend and holiday coverage required per unit needs
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky or a compact state currently in hand
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Associate degree in nursing (ADN or ASN) required; BSN preferred
  • Previous nursing experience preferred, though not strictly required
  • Ability to assess age-specific patient safety issues and implement appropriate safety measures
  • MM/DD of date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Nursing practice is centered on evidence-based care, incorporating all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and a holistic patient-centered approach
  • Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessment, care planning, patient and family education, care coordination, and facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities
  • Expected to delegate tasks appropriately and oversee team members in the performance of patient care activities
  • Active participation in unit-based quality improvement activities such as patient satisfaction, fall prevention, pressure ulcer prevention, CAUTI reduction, and documentation auditing
  • BSN is preferred but not required for this position
