Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum position at an acute care hospital in Glendale, CA, requiring 2 years of L&D experience and C-section competency.
Details
- Acute care hospital Labor & Delivery and Postpartum unit
- Unit includes 10 L&D beds, 2 OR suites, 2 triage beds, and 18 postpartum beds
- Handles approximately 130 births per month, including deliveries as early as 23 weeks gestation
- Patient population includes high-risk cases such as antepartum and hypertensive patients, with perinatology support on staff
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 near delivery, 1:2 otherwise, and 1:4 couplets on postpartum
- Obix fetal monitoring system used for FHM
- EMR: Cerner
- 12-hour night shifts (7p start), every other weekend (4 shifts per 4-week period)
- No on-call requirements
- First to float; L&D may float to postpartum, but units do not typically work interchangeably
- Scrub techs available on L&D; no nurse aides or OB techs on postpartum
- RT and pharmacy available 24/7
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
Requirements
- Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact) — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Required certifications (all must be active, no pending accepted): BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
- Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required; travel experience preferred
- C-section experience required, including scrub, recovery, and circulate roles
- A driver's license must be provided for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Orientation consists of 3 floor-specific shifts (12 hours each)
- Coverage of 1 major and 1 minor holiday required; major RN holidays include Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
