Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry (Neuro/Ortho) travel position at an acute care hospital, requiring a valid MO or Compact RN license and at least 2 years of experience.

Details

  • Work setting is a 233-bed acute care hospital on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a Neuro/Ortho focus
  • Patient ratio is 1:6
  • Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
  • Every other weekend requirement: Saturday and Sunday for day shift
  • Floating is required within service line to any unit except the ICU, SDU, and ED
  • No on-call requirements
  • Charting is done via Epic; experience with Epic is required
  • Free parking available on site

Requirements

  • Active MO RN license or Compact RN license (tied to MO as primary state) required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS
  • Experience with neurological patient care, including CVA management
  • Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, PICC line management, medication administration, PCA management, and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Orthopedic experience including total joint replacement is required
  • Epic EMR experience required

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • RNs may stay at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
  • Permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's health systems must wait 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler at any BJC facility
  • No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment; up to 7 days of RTO may be requested per 13-week contract, with any RTO beyond 7 days or during holidays requiring manager approval
  • Pre-start orientation modules are required and must be completed prior to the assignment start date
  • Fit testing is required; travelers must have facial hair that allows for proper N95 fit testing or will be expected to shave — no exceptions
  • Navy scrubs are required
  • Preferred skills include telemetry remote monitoring, orthopedics, and neurological/psychiatric care

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first travel assignment. American Traveler has made the entire process feel easy from start to finish.
