Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical IMCU Stepdown position at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Boston, requiring surgical stepdown experience and the ability to independently interpret telemetry rhythm strips.
Details
- PM shift, 12-hour nights in a Surgical Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU/Stepdown)
- 36 hours per week with every other weekend and every other holiday required
- 38-bed unit caring for post-operative patients transferred from the PACU or SICU
- Patient population includes cardiothoracic surgery, vascular, neurosurgery, trauma, and transplant cases
- Patient ratios are 1:3 to 1:4, or up to 1:4–5 when caring for Med/Surg patients
- Automated medication dispensing systems are used on the unit
- Telemetry monitoring is required, including independent interpretation of rhythm strips
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required
- Active BLS and any other required certifications must be current
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience required
- Surgical Stepdown experience at a Level 1 Trauma Center is required
- IMCU/Stepdown experience required
- Prior travel assignment experience (more than one) required
- Ability to independently read and interpret telemetry rhythm strips required
- Tertiary facility experience preferred
- Valid, non-expired driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: at least one must be manager-level or above (listed as Manager, not Supervisor) with a performance evaluation; one must be within the last 12 months and the other within the last 3 years
Additional Information
- Candidates who reside within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but will be compensated at a local rate
- Previous permanent staff employees of this facility are not eligible for this position
- Must pass the Relias Advanced Dysrhythmia Test (A or B) prior to placement — the test may only be taken twice
- Telemetry and critical care medication testing are conducted on day 1 of assignment
- One reference is preferred to come from a previous travel or temporary assignment; references cannot be from fellow travelers
