Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg night shift position in a 60-bed inpatient unit at a Level 2 Trauma Center in Saint Louis, MO, requiring at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience and an active MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Inpatient 7 West Medical unit in a 60-bed hospital setting
- Medical patient population, including patients with post-trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities
- Patient ratio of 1:5 or 1:6
- Equipment used includes bladder scanner, vein finder, IV pumps, and wound vacs
- EMR: Epic
- Night shift, 1900–0730
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license — must meet eligibility requirements for MO licensure or hold a current MO or compact RN license
- BLS certification from the AHA required
- ACLS certification from the AHA preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Med/Surg experience required
- No employment gaps of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
- A valid U.S. Social Security Number is required — Canadian SINs are not accepted
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, and turn patients with assistance; push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs; pinch up to 15 lbs; kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
Additional Information
- Perform direct patient care activities including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients of all age groups
- Coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes
- Facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center (the only one in the South County area), a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and a Level 1 STEMI Center
- Night shift orients on day shift — candidate must be available the full orientation week
- Flu vaccination (or Mercy-approved exemption) is required from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Black scrubs required
- RTO of up to 5 days is permitted but must be made up during the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request allowed per assignment
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
- Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before a 1-year separation or transfer outside the 50-mile radius is required
