Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical ICU (MICU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience, CRRT proficiency, and a valid LA or compact RN license.
Details
- Hospital-based Medical ICU (MICU) setting with a high-acuity patient population
- Patient care includes COVID management, pronation therapy, and CRRT dialysis
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Specialized procedures include pronation therapy and vasopressor titration
- CRRT dialysis equipment experience required
- Epic EMR used; experience required
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
- Floating may be required
- Block scheduling requests are not accepted
Requirements
- Active LA or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- Required certifications: ACLS and BLS (AHA-issued)
- Preferred certifications: CCRN, CPI, NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in central line care, arterial line management, PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Ventilator management and BiPAP/CPAP experience required
- CRRT/CVVHD experience required
- Experience with continuous IV sedation and titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips required
- Must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- An up-to-date NURSYS report (within 4 weeks) is required
- 2 manager/supervisor references required prior to contract start (charge RNs are not acceptable references)
Additional Information
- Provides high-acuity critical care including management of multisystem organ dysfunction, acute renal failure, CVA/stroke, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Skills in FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, and ABG interpretation are preferred
- Orientation is held 5 days a week and includes required facility modules
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors at Ochsner Health System must have been separated for at least 1 full year before returning as a traveler
- Upon accepting an assignment, nurses may be assigned to an Emergency Team by their unit manager and may be expected to remain on-site during or after an emergency event or serve on a relief team
- All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed during the interview process
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
