Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Charge OR RN for a 13-week travel assignment in a Level II Trauma teaching hospital, requiring strong robotic and trauma case experience across multiple surgical specialty pods.
Details
- Work in the Surgery unit of a 772-bed Level II Trauma, academic teaching hospital designated as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center
- OR suite consists of 28 suites across four specialty centers (Centers A–D) located on the ground and first floors
- Center A (Ground Floor, Rooms 1–7): Neuro, ENT, OMFS, Eyes, Dental, and Plastics
- Center B (Ground Floor, Rooms 8–15): Orthopedics
- Center C (First Floor, Rooms 16–22): Cardiothoracic and Vascular
- Center D (First Floor, Rooms 23–29): General, GYN, Urology, and Robotics
- Case experience required includes Ortho, Neuro, Trauma, General, GYN, Vascular, Urology, and Robotics; Open Heart experience is preferred
- Heavy robotic and trauma experience is required — no exceptions
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1
- Candidates must be willing to float across all specialty pods based on strengths and case experience — scrubbing is not required
- 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, 36 hours per week
- Weekend, holiday, and on-call requirements apply; on-call obligations are dependent on shift time
- Epic EMR is used; orientation includes an opportunity to test out of Epic training
Requirements
- Active FL RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS and CNOR are preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of OR nursing experience required
- At least 2 prior travel assignments required; candidates with no travel experience but extensive multi-facility OR experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Demonstrated experience circulating in multiple surgical specialties including Ortho, Neuro, Trauma, General, GYN, Vascular, Urology, and Robotics
- Heavy robotic and trauma case experience is non-negotiable
- Two professional references dated within the last 12 months required for consideration
- Skills checklist dated within the last 12 months required for consideration
- All required licensure and certifications must be current and available for consideration
Additional Information
- This is a Charge RN role; candidates must be prepared to take on charge responsibilities in the OR
- Nurses will be assigned across Centers A–D based on their specialty strengths and unit needs
- Epic orientation occurs during the second half of the TMH orientation day; candidates may test out of training — those who do not pass must complete the full training prior to being released to the unit
- Orientation is held every Monday
- Local candidates are accepted, with the exception of those with a permanent Tallahassee address
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated for any reason
- All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at the time of consideration
- No work history gaps exceeding 30 days without explanation
