Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift telemetry unit requiring 2+ years of experience and a WV or compact RN license.
Details
- 34-bed Medical/Surgical unit with telemetry capabilities
- Patient ratios of 1:5-7
- Night shift schedule (4x12 or 3x12), 19:00-07:30, including weekdays and weekends (3 shifts per 4-week period)
- 13-week contract with possible extension
- Uses Cerner EMR system
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted for consideration)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS (if required) must be through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Minimum 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required
- Skills needed may include respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy care), IV therapy, central and PICC line management, telemetry monitoring, wound care, and dysrhythmia interpretation
Additional Information
- Care for medical/surgical patients with telemetry monitoring needs, including pre/post cardiac cath and renal failure management
- Facility has expressed limited tolerance for call-offs (2-3 per contract) due to attendance concerns
- Orientation held every other Monday
- Non-billable EMR training modules required prior to start, averaging 8 hours to complete
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate; those within 75-100 miles may be considered case-by-case at the same rate
- Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last date of employment before returning as a traveler
- Current employees of the associated health system (including CAMC Health Systems, Mon Health Systems, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for this travel contract
- Previous license probationary actions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
