Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a travel Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) position in Reno, NV, requiring a minimum of 2 years of IMC/stepdown experience and an active NV RN license prior to start.

Details

• 18-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) within a Level II Trauma Center and stroke-accredited, 800-bed hospital
• Patient population includes general medical cases such as post-ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, sepsis, cardiac, and respiratory conditions
• Patients require moderately complex assessments, moderately intensive therapies, and moderate levels of nursing vigilance
• Shift schedule: 3x12, Days
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to other units may be required up to the traveler's competency level
• Schedule may include weekends and holidays based on department needs
• Epic EMR used; training provided during orientation or candidates may test out
• Telemetry monitoring is a core component of this role; candidates must pass an ECG/Telemetry exam as a condition of the assignment

Requirements

• Active NV RN license required prior to start; RNs who have never held a NV temp or permanent license may be considered and must apply immediately upon offer
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of IMC/stepdown experience required
• Medical/Neuro ICU experience preferred
• Demonstrated experience with vasopressors, titratable drips, arterial lines, neuro-stepdown patients, procedural sedation, thrombolytics, and trach management
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

• Provides comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients utilizing the full nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Coordinates care across a multidisciplinary team in a collaborative, patient-centered environment
• Hospital serves a 500-mile radius with a high-volume, fast-paced environment comparable to a Level I Trauma Center
• All travelers must be available to work a minimum of 2 of the 3 major holidays (Eve + Day counts as 1 holiday)
• Travelers are required to pick up one additional shift per 4-week schedule period
• Blocked scheduling is not permitted
• Candidates must pass an ECG/Telemetry exam; failure will result in contract termination
• Travelers who have previously held a contract at this facility must take a 13-week break before being eligible to return
• Any requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at the time of consideration; the facility does not extend contracts to account for RTO
• 13-week contract; all assignments are 13 weeks with no extensions counted toward the break rule reset
