Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I trauma academic teaching hospital, requiring scrub experience and SC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in the Main Operating Room of a Level I academic trauma center with 21 OR suites covering all surgical specialties including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
• Nursing team consists of 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists, with RNs trained to both scrub and circulate procedures
• Uses EPIC charting system
• Day shift schedule of 3x12 hours (10:30am-11:00pm)
• On-call requirement of up to 2 weekend call shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a) per 4-week scheduling period
• Required to work at least one holiday period (Christmas or New Year's)
• Floating required within scope to like units or sister facilities as needed

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA certifications only)
• Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
• 2 years of OR experience strongly preferred
• Scrub experience strongly preferred
• Level I trauma center experience preferred
• EPIC charting experience

• Work in a busy, nurse-driven, Magnet-designated department providing cutting-edge surgical technology
• Facility is a Level I Trauma Center, Teaching Facility, and Magnet Hospital with 820 staffed beds
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval based on unit needs
• First-time travelers may be considered depending on the position
• Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis
• Radius rule of 60 miles applies, with non-local candidates prioritized
• Previous perm or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• During hurricane season (June through November, peak August-September), all staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams
