Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery night shift position in Austin, TX, requiring at least 2 years of High Risk OB experience and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced EFM certification.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit located on the 2nd floor (North) of an acute care hospital in Austin, TX
• Unit includes 12 LDR beds, 5 Antepartum beds, 4 OB Emergency Department (OBED) beds, and 3 OR rooms
• Patient population includes high-risk OB patients, including those requiring massive transfusion and management of placenta accreta spectrum disorders (PASD)
• Procedures performed include C-sections, SVDs, D&C, D&E, twin deliveries (vaginal and cesarean), scheduled and emergent C-hysterectomies, and massive transfusion
• Patient ratios are 1:2, with 1:1 assignments based on acuity and during transition
• EMR systems used are CPN and Meditech
• Equipment used includes Alaris pumps and CADD epidural pumps
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts
• Four weekend shifts required per scheduling period
• No on-call requirements
• Self-scheduling within the team

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP (Advanced 9th Edition, American Academy of Pediatrics card), and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced EFM (or NCCEFM)
• CPI certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent High Risk OB experience required
• Nurses with 3+ years of High Risk OB experience are preferred
• US Social Security Number (SSN) and date of birth (DOB) required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
• One professional reference required (two required for candidates licensed in Florida or Missouri)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible

Additional Information

• Unit holds a Maternal Designation Level III and Neonatal Level II, with both designations in progress toward the next level
• Joint Commission accredited in Women's Services
• Associated with a Main ED that is a Level II Trauma center serving obstetrical patients with Level I and II injuries
• Preferred experience includes high-risk OB with massive transfusion protocols and PASD management
• Team of 72 includes nurses, CSTs, and schedulers, with a collaborative and highly engaged culture
• Management team is actively engaged and regularly rounds on nights and weekends
• Good mix of tenured staff and newer nurses on both day and night shifts
• Physicians maintain strong collaborative relationships with nursing staff
