Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Postpartum position requiring AWHONN certification and TN or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Mother-Baby, Couplet Care, and Postpartum unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:3-4
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30), with manager open to 3x12 or 4x12 schedules
• On-call requirement of 36 hours every 6 weeks
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 2 weekends per month
• L&D experience preferred for potential floating to that unit, but not required
• Cerner charting system experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (TN or compact) required in hand at time of submission
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, NRP, and NIHSS (NIHSS may be obtained after offer)
• Certifications and licensure must not expire within 45 days of start date
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior charge experience preferred
• Experience with patient ratio of 1:8
• Skills required: IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, maintenance of central lines (CVC/PICC), and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care including EFM use, NST, sterile vaginal exams, and medication administration (antihypertensives, antiseizure, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, and pitocin)

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, postpartum, and newborn populations, including couplet care and cesarean/vaginal delivery recovery
• Support patients experiencing postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and multiple births
• Perform newborn assessments, discharge teaching, circumcision care, and management of neonatal abstinence syndrome
• Assist with pain management including epidural care, PCA, and opioid administration
• Floating conducted in accordance with facility policy and clinical experience, with appropriate orientation provided
• Previous perm staff cannot return to the same campus within 24 months, but may return to a different Covenant Health campus after 12 months
• Related or married travel team members cannot be assigned to the same unit
• Holiday RTO not accommodated during specified holiday periods; RTO requests may be addressed onsite with the manager
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced bill rate
• Candidate's permanent address must be more than 75 miles from the facility for travel rate eligibility
