Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a TN or compact license, prior travel experience, and availability for night shifts with on-call and weekend requirements.
Details
- Night shift position, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month required
- On-call requirement of 36 hours every 6 weeks
- Primary unit is Mother/Baby & Postpartum with floating to L&D required
- Work settings include Antepartum, Postpartum, and Level 1 Nursery; Special Care Nursery/Level II experience is a plus
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4 on Mother/Baby
- Cerner EMR preferred but not required
- Biweekly orientation schedule
Requirements
- Active TN or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, NRP, and NIHSS (NIHSS may be obtained after offer)
- All licenses and certifications must not expire within 45 days of assignment start
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Proficiency in IV therapy, starting and maintaining IVs, blood/blood product administration, and central line maintenance (CVC/PICC)
- Experience with antepartum care and procedures including EFM, NSTs, sterile vaginal exams, and reflex/edema assessments
- Experience with postpartum care including couplet care, fundus assessment, Foley catheter insertion, and postpartum hemorrhage management
- Experience with newborn assessment, phototherapy, thermoregulation, and neonatal abstinence syndrome
- Experience administering Magnesium Sulfate therapy, Pitocin, and IV antibiotics
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
Additional Information
- Candidate's permanent address must be greater than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
- RTO is not accommodated during holidays or holiday weeks, including: Valentine's Day, Local Spring Break, Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Local Fall Break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's; travelers may discuss RTO with the manager after arriving onsite
- RTO cannot occur within the first 14 days of the assignment start date and cannot exceed 7 days total
- Former permanent staff cannot return to the same campus within 24 months; returning to a different campus within the same health system is permitted after 12 months
- Travelers who are married or related may not be placed on the same unit
- Floating is conducted in accordance with Joint Commission standards and includes an appropriate orientation to the new unit
- Online compliance modules are completed during orientation and annually through the facility's internal system
