Description

American Traveler is hiring a Radiology Technologist for a diagnostic radiology position at a Level I Trauma and Level I Pediatric Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of acute care experience and ARRT-R certification.

Details

  • Large academic teaching hospital with 874 licensed beds, designated as a Level I Trauma Center, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center
  • Radiology - Diagnostics department averaging 350–400 patients per day across ED, OR, main floor (4th floor), and inpatient units
  • Department includes 2 x-ray rooms and 3 fluoro rooms on the main level, 2 ED rooms, 40 ORs with 12 C-arms and 2 O-arms, and 15 portable units
  • Patient population includes adults and pediatrics (including neonates) from the ED, ICUs, nursing units, and outpatient settings across the full spectrum of radiology exams
  • Rotation on a shift-by-shift basis between assigned areas: ED, OR, and Main
  • 8-hour night shifts, Monday through Friday, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • No weekend rotation — travelers remain on the shift and schedule agreed upon in their contract
  • Holidays are worked if they fall on a regularly scheduled workday
  • No call requirement
  • EMR: Epic (experience required)
  • Equipment includes Shimadzu RadSpeed general rad rooms, Konica and Shimadzu portables, Philips C-arm, and GE O-arm

Requirements

  • ARRT-R and BLS certifications required
  • Minimum of 2 years of acute care radiology experience required
  • Trauma facility experience required (Level I, II, or III)
  • Proficiency in general x-ray imaging including head, neck, spine, extremities, abdomen, hands, feet, and chest; must be comfortable performing bedside portables
  • C-arm experience required; O-arm experience preferred
  • OR experience including spinal, orthopedic, general surgery, neuro, and pediatric cases strongly preferred
  • Comfort working with trauma patients and in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Must be able to work with both adult and pediatric patient populations, including neonates
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Active license required if applicable

Additional Information

  • Perform general diagnostic x-ray, fluoroscopy, OR imaging (including spinal, ortho, neuro, general, and peds surgery), and portable bedside imaging across the department
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude are highly valued
  • Depending on experience, may be asked to precept radiology students
  • Support structure includes a Lead Tech, 24/7 supervisor, manager, on-site radiologists, Rapid Response/Code Team, and department transporters; other Rad Techs are always available across all shifts
  • Departmental orientation is up to 5 days, flexible based on traveler experience
  • Scrub color is black; OR scrubs will be provided if assigned to the OR
  • First-time travelers will be considered if they have trauma facility experience
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • Former employees of any AHSE facility in a permanent role must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
  • RTO requires manager approval
  • Free parking available in several on-site parking decks
  • A clinical interview with the manager is required as part of the selection process
