Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Nurse Manager for a Mother/Baby unit, requiring a minimum of five years of obstetrical nursing experience and an active Massachusetts RN license.
Details
- Mother/Baby unit in an acute care hospital setting, with oversight responsibilities extending to L&D and Special Care Nursery
- Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8-hour day shifts from 7:00am to 4:00pm
- Every other weekend and holiday on-call responsibility for the entire OB department, including L&D
- No on-call compensation is provided for on-call hours
- Position requires familiarity with Kronos scheduling software
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum five years of obstetrical nursing experience with demonstrated leadership abilities required
- Previous supervisory or management experience required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP
- Inpatient OB certification strongly preferred
- BSN preferred
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the standard travel pay rate; local candidates within 50 miles are eligible at a discounted rate
Additional Information
- Manages staffing, scheduling, and timekeeping for OB Nursing, PCT, L&D Scrub Tech, and Unit Coordinator teams
- Leads shift huddles and reviews the operational plan of care with incoming staff
- Collaborates with the Nurse Director, Nurse Educator, and Associate Nurse Manager to develop, update, and implement policies and procedures in alignment with best practices and regulatory standards
- Conducts and delivers annual staff performance reviews using the hospital's established review tools, and applies coaching and conflict management strategies to support staff engagement
- Participates in staff hiring interviews and supports the orientation and competency assessment of new personnel
- Oversees quality assurance initiatives, patient satisfaction programs, and Joint Commission/DPH compliance efforts
- Serves as the OB Day Shift Charge RN on non-administrative duty days, including weekends and holidays, and performs clinical duties in L&D, Postpartum, and Special Care Nursery as needed
- Provides ongoing staff education on new policies, equipment, clinical software, and regulatory requirements in collaboration with the Nurse Director and Nurse Educator
