Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and AWHONN/NRP certifications.
Details
- LDRP unit with couplet care (mom/baby) patient ratios of 1:4
- Facility averages approximately 800 births per year
- Night shift 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15, with 36 or 48 hour weekly options
- Assignment length can range from 13-26 weeks
- Every other weekend requirement
- Float requirement to assist other units (not taking assignments elsewhere)
- Call requirement of 2 mandatory call shifts per 6-week schedule
- Utilizes EPIC EMR, Pyxis medication system, and SBAR communication
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted for consideration)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and AWHONN (Intermediate or Advanced)
- ACLS and Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certifications preferred
- Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
- Skills required: LDRP, Mother/Baby care, sterile vaginal/speculum exams, EFM (external fetal monitoring), external and internal fetal monitoring, recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, breastfeeding/lactation support, and circulating for C-sections
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care
- Responsibilities include fetal monitoring, high-risk delivery assistance, hemorrhage/shock management, and neonatal care in the delivery room
- Support breastfeeding and lactation, and provide discharge teaching to parents
- Unit orientation is 32 hours with weekly onboarding
- Scrub requirement: Cecil blue hospital-issued scrubs, navy also accepted
- Local candidates accepted within 50 miles at a lower rate
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
- Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between per diem or travel status, not both
- Travel pairs are allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
