Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of L&D experience and AWHONN/NRP certification.
Details
- Work in an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) unit with Couplet Care
- Facility averages 800 births per year
- Patient population includes LDRP and Mother/Baby diagnoses
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shift schedule (18:45-07:15), 4x12 hours
- 13-week assignment with option for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Required to work every other weekend
- Float requirement to assist other units (not taking assignments)
- On-call requirement of 2 mandatory call shifts per 6-week schedule
- Uses EPIC for documentation, Pyxis for medication administration, and SBAR for communication
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending license/certs acceptable at submission
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and AWHONN (Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced)
- ACLS and FHM certifications preferred
- EPIC charting experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Skills required: LDRP, Mother/Baby care, sterile speculum exam assistance, External and Internal Fetal Monitoring (EFM), recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, and breastfeeding/lactation support
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive care across labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum stages including couplet care
- Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, including forceps/vacuum extraction
- Support antepartum care including NST, OCT, and sterile vaginal exams
- Provide newborn care including APGAR scoring, cord care, and discharge teaching
- Deliver postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum assessment and hemorrhage management
- Weekly unit orientation totaling 32 hours
- Scrub requirement: hospital-issued Cecil blue scrubs, navy also acceptable
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
- Travel pairs are allowed if assigned to different units
- First-time travelers are not eligible; prior travel experience is required
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a reduced rate
