Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and the ability to work in an LDRP setting.

Details

  • Level 3 Trauma hospital with 241 licensed beds
  • Labor and Delivery unit with 8 labor rooms, 3 triage rooms, 1 OR suite, and 1 PACU
  • Average of 4 to 6 patients per day
  • Patient population includes labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
  • Follows AWHONN staffing guidelines with ratios of 1:2 inactive labor, 1:1 active labor, and 1:3-4 couplets
  • 1 CST per shift
  • 12-hour night shift schedule from 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
  • Also includes shift options of 7a-7p and 7p-7a on a 6-week schedule cycle
  • EMR: Epic
  • Uses Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing
  • Fetal monitoring and Philips monitors used for newborn care
  • Unit-specific equipment includes scales, ultrasound, and ambulation assist devices
  • 24/7 charge nurse support and RT coverage within the hospital
  • Hospitalist coverage available 24/7 for newborn care
  • Phlebotomy support available for peripheral blood draws
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Low census call possible, with call-back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
  • Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, EFM, and NRP
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Ability and willingness to work in an LDRP setting
  • Experience with labor management, cesarean section circulating, pre-op, PACU, triage, newborn resuscitation, Pitocin management, and epidural management
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn stages
  • Responsibilities include circulating cesarean sections, managing epidurals and Pitocin, and performing newborn resuscitation as needed
  • Unit culture emphasizes teamwork
  • Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
  • Hospital-issued green scrubs required
  • Free parking available onsite
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Previous employees of AHSE facilities must have been separated from any permanent position for at least 1 year before applying
