Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg unit requiring 2+ years of experience and a WV or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg unit (6N Overflow) of an acute care hospital setting
• 30-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:6, up to 1:7
• Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, R/O, chole, appendicitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, and AKI
• Telemetry monitoring available, watched remotely by monitor techs
• Intermittent BIPAP support used, no ventilator management required
• RNs required to titrate heparin drips based on aPTT results
• One charge RN staffed on the floor in addition to assignment
• PCTs available on the unit for patient care support
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Rotating day/night 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays as needed
• Approximately half of total weekends required
• No standby or on-call requirements
• Floating required as needed based on census, with external travelers floated first
• Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
• Acute care Med/Surg experience required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Copy of unexpired driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg overflow unit managing a variety of medical and surgical diagnoses
• Collaborate with charge RN and PCT support staff to coordinate patient care
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify as a traveler
• Holiday coverage required as needed on a rotating basis
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers are limited to a cumulative one-year assignment length within WVU facilities before requiring a 2-year break
