Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg unit requiring 2+ years of experience and a WV or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Med/Surg unit (6N Overflow) of an acute care hospital setting
- 30-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:6, up to 1:7
- Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, R/O, chole, appendicitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, and AKI
- Telemetry monitoring available, watched remotely by monitor techs
- Intermittent BIPAP support used, no ventilator management required
- RNs required to titrate heparin drips based on aPTT results
- One charge RN staffed on the floor in addition to assignment
- PCTs available on the unit for patient care support
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Rotating day/night 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays as needed
- Approximately half of total weekends required
- No standby or on-call requirements
- Floating required as needed based on census, with external travelers floated first
- Navy blue scrubs required
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
- Acute care Med/Surg experience required
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Copy of unexpired driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg overflow unit managing a variety of medical and surgical diagnoses
- Collaborate with charge RN and PCT support staff to coordinate patient care
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify as a traveler
- Holiday coverage required as needed on a rotating basis
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
- Travelers are limited to a cumulative one-year assignment length within WVU facilities before requiring a 2-year break
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
