Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN Case Manager for an acute care hospital setting, requiring 5+ years of recent acute care Case Management experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Work in the Case Management department of an acute care hospital
• Manage a patient census of approximately 15-25 patients with a 1:22 ratio
• Day shift schedule: 5x8 hours, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, weekdays
• Some weekend work required
• Overtime requires supervisor approval
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
• CCM (Certified Case Manager) and ACM (Accredited Case Manager) certifications preferred
• Minimum 5 years of recent acute care Case Management experience in a hospital setting required
• At least 3 years of recent experience as a unit-based inpatient case manager in a hospital setting required
• Less than a 6-month gap since last acute care Case Management role
• Experience in a Level I, II, or III trauma acute care hospital required
• Rated 4/5 or 5/5 across all Case Management functions, including knowledge of CMS regulations
• Utilization Review experience required
• Epic proficiency required with no exceptions
• Recent experience in adult acute care hospital setting with discharge planning required
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• Previous travel experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers considered only with extensive acute care Case Management experience
• Ability to effectively manage a high-volume, fast-paced patient population

Additional Information

• Responsible for care coordination, discharge planning, concurrent review, and continued stay reviews
• Perform utilization review functions including admission criteria, appeals and denials, audits, and medical necessity determinations
• Apply knowledge of CMS regulations, DRG, HIPAA guidelines, and Joint Commission standards
• Utilize Milliman guidelines and evidence-based guidelines for medical necessity determinations
• Conduct needs assessments and order DME as part of discharge planning
• Longer assignments through January 9, 2027 available but not required
• Must work two of the three winter holidays if extending through the winter holiday period
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this RN position
• Candidates with any prior license or background hits will not be considered
• Facility cannot accommodate a PAPR for fit testing; any history of fit test issues will eliminate a candidate from consideration
• Requested time off must be submitted for review and approval on a per-case basis
