Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN Case Manager for an acute care hospital setting, requiring 5+ years of recent acute care Case Management experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Work in the Case Management department of an acute care hospital
- Manage a patient census of approximately 15-25 patients with a 1:22 ratio
- Day shift schedule: 5x8 hours, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, weekdays
- Some weekend work required
- Overtime requires supervisor approval
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active VA or Compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
- CCM (Certified Case Manager) and ACM (Accredited Case Manager) certifications preferred
- Minimum 5 years of recent acute care Case Management experience in a hospital setting required
- At least 3 years of recent experience as a unit-based inpatient case manager in a hospital setting required
- Less than a 6-month gap since last acute care Case Management role
- Experience in a Level I, II, or III trauma acute care hospital required
- Rated 4/5 or 5/5 across all Case Management functions, including knowledge of CMS regulations
- Utilization Review experience required
- Epic proficiency required with no exceptions
- Recent experience in adult acute care hospital setting with discharge planning required
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
- Previous travel experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers considered only with extensive acute care Case Management experience
- Ability to effectively manage a high-volume, fast-paced patient population
Additional Information
- Responsible for care coordination, discharge planning, concurrent review, and continued stay reviews
- Perform utilization review functions including admission criteria, appeals and denials, audits, and medical necessity determinations
- Apply knowledge of CMS regulations, DRG, HIPAA guidelines, and Joint Commission standards
- Utilize Milliman guidelines and evidence-based guidelines for medical necessity determinations
- Conduct needs assessments and order DME as part of discharge planning
- Longer assignments through January 9, 2027 available but not required
- Must work two of the three winter holidays if extending through the winter holiday period
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this RN position
- Candidates with any prior license or background hits will not be considered
- Facility cannot accommodate a PAPR for fit testing; any history of fit test issues will eliminate a candidate from consideration
- Requested time off must be submitted for review and approval on a per-case basis
