Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry unit position requiring high-risk telemetry experience, cardiac drip management, and sheath pull competency.

Details

• Acute care Magnet hospital setting on a 40-bed Telemetry unit within a 222-bed facility
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6
• Night shift schedule with 4x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15)
• Every other weekend required, with an expectation of 6 weekend shifts (Sat or Sun) within a 6-week schedule
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within scope to all inpatient units across both campuses
• EPIC charting system required
• 36 hours per week guaranteed for 3x12 schedules

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required (license in hand at time of consideration)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with strong cardiac background
• High-risk telemetry experience required
• Experience with cardiac drip management (no titration) required
• Experience with sheath removal required
• Central line care and management experience required
• Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
• Pre/post cardiac surgery experience required

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry nursing care including cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and management of dysrhythmias
• Perform procedures such as sheath removal, central line management, and cardiac drip administration
• Additional clinical responsibilities include wound care/wound vac management, isolation precautions/PPE, and procedural sedation monitoring
• Navy scrub color required
• No parking costs at this facility
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; no local candidates accepted
• RTO limited to no more than 7 days per contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
• Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period, followed by a required 3-month break in service
• Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
• Facial hair must accommodate proper respirator fit testing, or must be shaved with no exceptions
