Description
American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Surgical Acute Telemetry position requiring Level 1 Trauma experience and a minimum of 2 years tele experience.
Details
- Work on a 30-bed Surgical Acute Telemetry unit (Trauma, Ortho, Surgical) within a Level 1 Trauma acute care hospital
- Patient population includes post-op transplant, whipple, spine, and ortho joint patients, as well as trauma cases
- Patient ratio of 1:4-5
- Charge RN does not take patients; nurse aide support available 2 days, 1 night
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Philips telemetry monitoring equipment
- Vent support includes BiPAP and CPAP
- SWAT RN available for IV team support
- RT and Pharmacy coverage available 24/7
- 12-hour night shifts
- 3 weekend shifts required per 4-week period
- Holiday coverage worked into permanent staff rotation
- First to float, potentially to Westgate or AZ General Laveen campus
- 2 shifts of floor-specific orientation provided
Requirements
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of Telemetry experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam (2 attempts allowed) prior to acceptance
- Must pass a Day 1 pass/fail SIMs Lab skills test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
- Navy scrub color required
- Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings
- Men must be clean shaven for respirator fit test
- Must have own vehicle
Additional Information
- Care for a high-acuity surgical population including transplant, whipple, spine, and orthopedic joint patients
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver's license
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year
- Failing the dysrhythmia exam or sterile technique test on the second attempt results in a 6-month Do Not Use status with CommonSpirit facilities in the Arizona and Sacramento regions
