Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Work on a 32-bed Surgical unit within a Level 3 Trauma teaching-affiliated hospital that is a Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
- Average daily census of 28 patients
- Common diagnoses include total joint replacements, colon resection, gallbladder surgery, appendectomy, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, SBO, and NG tube management
- RN patient ratios are 1:4-6 on days and 1:5-6 on nights, with surge staffing ratios up to 1:7-8
- 12hr Night Shift schedule from 1845-0700, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation required on an every-other-weekend basis
- Possibility of low census call-back, up to 3am for nights and 3pm for days
- Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed, within scope of practice
- Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
- Unit supported by CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, dedicated phlebotomy team, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- Telemetry monitoring and tech support available
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
- Core Med/Tele skillset required including cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered eligible
- Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position there
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive Med/Surg Tele nursing care to a surgical patient population
- Collaborate with a full support team including CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- Orientation includes facility-wide NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage expected for 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
- Navy scrub color required
