Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position on a cardiac stepdown unit requiring drip titration and telemetry strip interpretation experience.

Details

• Work on a 29-bed Cardiac/Tele Stepdown unit (Cardiopulmonary) in an acute care hospital with a Level 2 trauma designation
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Care for cardiac patients, including CR bands, post-cath, AMI, post-op lung surgery, respiratory failure, chest tubes, pacemakers, and post-PCI patients
• Uses Philips telemetry monitors and EPIC EMR
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a)
• Every-other-weekend requirement (Sat/Sun)
• Holiday coverage required as part of the perm staff rotation schedule
• Floating required to other MedSurg/Tele units
• No on-call or standby requirements specified

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must be able to titrate drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrelin, Heparin, Ativan, Lasix, and Nitro up to 50 mcg
• Must be able to independently read and interpret telemetry strips
• CPAP and BiPap management on unit, with Respiratory Therapy managing ventilators and trachs

Additional Information

• Charge Nurse available 24/7; Night shift Charge Nurse takes a patient assignment while Day shift Charge Nurse does not
• CNAs support the unit at an ideal ratio of 1 CNA per 12 patients, typically 3 on days and 2 on nights
• Royal blue scrubs required; false nails are not permitted
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify as a traveler
• Previous WVU Medicine travelers must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying, and cumulative time working within WVU cannot exceed 1 year without a 2-year break
• EKG testing may be required as part of the hiring process for this stepdown unit
