Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a NICU position requiring Level III-IV NICU background and WA state or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in the NICU of a level IV children's hospital, ranked 2nd highest acuity level in the state
- Unit has 70 NICU beds with a typical census of around 50 patients
- Patient population includes prematurity down to 22 weeks gestation, RDS, high-risk deliveries, feeders/growers, and NAS
- Preferred experience with surgical patients and HIE (Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy)
- Private rooms in the NICU with overflow to the Level II Nursery for feeders/growers
- NICU is part of a pediatric hospital attached to an adult hospital with high-risk labor and delivery services
- Uses Epic EMR
- 12-hour night shifts, with shift times of 0700-1930 or 1900-0730
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required, with occasional back-to-back weekends
- Possible floating to the ER to act as a sitter, though rare
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling may be possible but is not guaranteed
- 19-week contract for holiday coverage
Requirements
- Active WA state or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Level III-IV NICU experience required
- Required skills: respiratory support for ventilators, G-tubes, NG/OG tubes, NCPAP, UAC/UVC management, PICC lines, medication administration, care plan development, and discharge planning to home
- Trach experience highly preferred but not required
- Travel experience strongly preferred
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to NICU patients ranging from extremely premature infants to feeders/growers
- Any scrub color is acceptable
- First-time travelers will be considered, though travel experience is strongly preferred
- Candidates with a positive, friendly attitude are preferred
