Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position requiring strong pediatric ICU experience with at least 1 year of CV experience and EPIC proficiency.
Details
- Work in the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) of a children's hospital
- Care for pediatric ICU and cardiovascular patients, including congenital heart disease and post cardiac surgery cases
- Patient ratios of 1:1 and 1:2
- Day or night 12-hour shifts (7:00am-7:30pm or 7:00pm-7:30am) depending on unit needs
- Monday through Friday schedule with every other weekend required
- Some holiday coverage required
- Floating required as needed
- EPIC EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active WI RN license or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required (AHA)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
- Strong Pediatric ICU experience required
- At least 1 year of cardiovascular (CV) experience required
- Trauma Level II hospital experience required
- Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
- EPIC charting system experience required
- First-time travelers considered only with 3+ years of experience in a high acuity hospital, especially CV
- Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting the assignment
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients in a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and Magnet-designated children's hospital
- Skills utilized may include ventilator management, arterial line management, CRRT, ECMO, hemodynamic monitoring, and management of dysrhythmias
- Care involves respiratory support such as BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
- Cardiovascular skills include CVP monitoring, congenital heart disease/repair care, and post cardiac surgery management
- Neurologic care skills may include EVD, ICP monitoring, and hypothermia protocol management
- Must live within a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
- Local candidates within the radius are not accepted
- Onsite parking requires a permit through UW Transportation, with alternative transportation options available such as bus and park & ride
