Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position requiring strong pediatric ICU experience with at least 1 year of CV experience and EPIC proficiency.

Details

• Work in the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) of a children's hospital
• Care for pediatric ICU and cardiovascular patients, including congenital heart disease and post cardiac surgery cases
• Patient ratios of 1:1 and 1:2
• Day or night 12-hour shifts (7:00am-7:30pm or 7:00pm-7:30am) depending on unit needs
• Monday through Friday schedule with every other weekend required
• Some holiday coverage required
• Floating required as needed
• EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
• Strong Pediatric ICU experience required
• At least 1 year of cardiovascular (CV) experience required
• Trauma Level II hospital experience required
• Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
• EPIC charting system experience required
• First-time travelers considered only with 3+ years of experience in a high acuity hospital, especially CV
• Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting the assignment

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients in a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and Magnet-designated children's hospital
• Skills utilized may include ventilator management, arterial line management, CRRT, ECMO, hemodynamic monitoring, and management of dysrhythmias
• Care involves respiratory support such as BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
• Cardiovascular skills include CVP monitoring, congenital heart disease/repair care, and post cardiac surgery management
• Neurologic care skills may include EVD, ICP monitoring, and hypothermia protocol management
• Must live within a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
• Local candidates within the radius are not accepted
• Onsite parking requires a permit through UW Transportation, with alternative transportation options available such as bus and park & ride
