Description

American Traveler is hiring a Medical Surgical RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of experience and a WV or compact RN license.

Details

• >Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
• Requires working every other weekend
• Uses Cerner EMR system
• Unit cannot guarantee schedule requests but will accommodate travelers when possible

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience required
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Skills needed include IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Respiratory care skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry required
• Medication management experience required including Heparin, Insulin, and cardiac/vasoactive drip management
• Wound care and wound vac experience required
• Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required
• Colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management experience required
• Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) experience required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit including short stay and surgical patients
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for emergency situations
• Manage surgical drains and provide plastics-related nursing care
• Possible contract extension available
• Two manager or charge references from within the past year required for consideration
• Documentation such as RN license verification, driver's license, and Social Security card required for consideration
