Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position on the Acute Stroke Unit requiring an active NY license in hand and 2 years of relevant experience.

• >Work on the Acute Stroke Unit, a 39-bed combined unit specializing in acute stroke, other neurological disorders, and acute medical patients
• Tertiary care hospital with 528 staffed beds
• Patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7 for Med/Surg patients
• Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating required within skillset
• EPIC charting experience required
• Utilizes cardiac monitoring for interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Involves use of Rapid Response/Code teams for emergency response
• Performs peripheral IV line care and management
• Uses respiratory equipment including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks
• Follows isolation precautions and PPE protocols

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required in hand, no exceptions
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• ACLS certification required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Experience with cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
• Experience with peripheral IV line care and management required
• Experience with respiratory support including nasal cannula and oxygen administration required

Additional Information

• Provide adjustable acuity, evidence-based nursing care to optimize stroke care during primary prevention and acute care phases
• Manage cardiac dysrhythmias and utilize Rapid Response/Code teams as needed
• Perform peripheral IV line care and phlebotomy as required
• Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tank management
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols for infection control
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy and white
• Must reside within a 75-mile radius of the facility for local candidate consideration
• Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
• Previous employees of the health system must have a 6-month system-wide break in service before reapplying
