Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Burn ICU/PCU position requiring ICU or PCU background with preferred burn experience.
Details
- Work in the Burn ICU/PCU unit of a Level 1 Trauma facility
- 6-bed unit caring for adult mixed acuity patients including ICU/PCU/Tele/M-S level of care
- Patients remain in the unit from admission through discharge regardless of acuity changes
- Unit staffed with Charge Nurse, RNs, Nurse Externs, and dedicated unit-based Paramedics
- Uses Alaris IV pumps, Hill-Rom beds and call light system, and GE cardiac monitoring equipment
- Charts in Meditech
- Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Required to work 3 weekend shifts within a 4-week scheduling period
- No on-call requirements
- Floats to like units including ICU, PCU, and CCU with agency staff floated first
Requirements
- Active RN license (Missouri or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and TNCC
- NIH Stroke Certification required
- ABLS certification preferred but not required
- Minimum 1 year of recent ICU or PCU experience required
- Burn experience preferred but not required
- Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Hemodynamic monitoring and drip titration proficiency preferred
- Experience with procedures such as debridement, dressing changes, line insertions, and chest tube insertion and maintenance
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care including debridement, dressing changes, line insertions, chest tube insertion and maintenance, and post-op procedural care
- Work within a strong multidisciplinary team including a burn surgeon, Nurse Practitioner, Intensivist, rehab, dietary, pharmacist, and case management
- Dedicated Burn Surgeon and APP support the unit
- Critical Care Intensivists available 24/7
- Unit uses AirStrip technology for cardiac rhythm monitoring and iMobile phones for provider communication
- Team culture is described as tenured, family-like, and travel nurse friendly
- Must adhere to bedside shift report requirements and uphold facility mission of treating every patient with courtesy and respect
- Required dress code includes navy blue scrub top with navy blue or black scrub pants and a scrub jacket; no t-shirts, hoodies, or sweatshirts allowed
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
- No local candidates will be considered under any circumstances
