Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of experience and a New Mexico or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a hospital General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients
  • Level I Trauma Center facility
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:30 to 07:00
  • Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Preferred Epic charting system experience
  • Required to work at least 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule
  • Floating required to like units within scope based on facility needs, with brief unit orientation provided

Requirements

  • Active RN license (New Mexico or Compact) required, pending license accepted if obtained prior to start
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
  • Preferred certifications: CPI, TNCC
  • 2 years of ER nursing experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration
  • Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
  • Experience with cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience with triage and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Preferred experience with neurological trauma, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
  • Preferred experience with pediatric trauma including head injury and near drowning
  • Preferred experience with orthopedic trauma, gunshot wounds, and traumatic amputation

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care across a combined adult and pediatric patient population
  • This facility is STEMI and Stroke certified
  • Complete onsite orientation modules, averaging 4-6 hours for RNs
  • Must complete required labs within 48 business hours of contract signing
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
  • No travel pairs or groups accepted
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
